Tencent's S Y Lau: Vast potential of online media needs to be explored

Online media has vast potential in China and such room for growth needs to be greatly explored, S Y Lau, EVP Online Media for Tencent, said at ad:tech Beijing 2009, which opened on November 17th at Beijing International Convention Center.

According to Lau, the world is now moving from traditional media to digital media, and surveys show around 50% of advertisers are willing to allocate part of their budgets to social media.

Citing analysts' forecasts, he said that social media marketing will grow rapidly in the next five years and will gradually take the third largest share in US interactive marketing market.
